Here's an uncomfortable question: How well do you feel like you manage the flow of ideas right now?  Think of how it works currently: you're sitting at your computer and think of an idea while working in one program, and by the time you've gotten to the program where the inspired idea should have an effect, you've forgotten not only the idea but the program you were working in to begin with (Alice's Cheshire cat smiles down upon you).
