GyroQ Interview Featuring Nick Duffill at BizTechTalk

Duffill-Nick Nice interview at BizTechTalk with my friend Nick Duffill of Gyronix. Not only does he provide a good overview of GyroQ, he also gives a nice history of his own involvement in the field:

Rest is one Staggeringly Good Value Proposition

I recently discovered Tech Rest, Craig Huggart's blog. And I'll go on record as saying it has one of the best value propositions I've ever encountered: Get more rest. According to Craig:

'You and I were born with a God-given destiny. Lack of rest can sidetrack or prevent us from fulfilling that destiny. Getting rest accelerates movement towards our destiny.'

Amen my friend. Those of you who know me personally know that I advocate taking one day a week off across the board. Saturday or Sunday usually work best, because they're days when typically no one is expecting you to be at your e-mail or workstation. I have to admit I'm often guilty of taking off two half-days per week, but at least it's hypocrisy in the spirit of the principle.

So I recommend you take a look at what Craig's doing, because he's one of the only people out there vigilantly advocating you get rested up. Oh sure, lots of productivity coaches like myself show you how to get more done so theoretically you'll have more time off... but isn't it easy to just use the extra time to get more done? You can read more about Craig's mission here and check out his blog here.

" » McFarlin Strikes Back While HP Runs Silent, Runs Deep" by ROI Copywriting For Internet Marketing

submarine - alligator For those of you following my saga, hell epic, with HP, you need to check out Walter Terry's latest post, who makes an excellent, excellent argument for why we should not let ourselves be victimized by large organizations when they do the wrong thing in the field of customer service.

I for one can't believe Walter nor I have heard from HP over his recent posts. They are simply too well-written and too dead-on for them to ignore. Take a look at Walter's latest post, and feel free to follow the links back to peel the onion on this story:

Feeling Healthy and Fit on this Lazy Summer Day?

(NOTE: This post will be more amusing and meaningful if you listen to the Superman theme from the 80s movies in your head or on your headphones. Hopefully the build-up crescendos when you click on the hyperlink)

So, do you feel healthy? Fit? Maybe / Maybe not? Okay, it's a sensitive subject, but one we shouldn't shy away from because IT DIRECTLY IMPACTS YOUR SELF-ESTEEM.

Now, I'm not holding myself up as any fitness guru or czar. I am saying after years of trial and error, I feel relatively balanced physically and mentally (and even more so when I finish Atlas Shrugged: over 1 year in 2/3 through).

And frankly, I've noticed A LOT of clients are dealing with getting fit and healthy, so hopefully the following resonates with you. Jamie Nast recently blogged about a fitness map of mine, and I think it may give you some ideas on how to address your own objectives physically and mentally:

Idea Mapping: Getting Healthy - Idea Map #29 & Hint #11

Are You Sparring with an Aircraft Carrier By Yourself?

aircraft carrier War is hell. I equate putting the Gyronix System (MindManager + ResultsManager) to an intellectually cathartic war. Therefore, it is hell to put the Gyronix System in place.

I'm not talking about planning out a project or two. I'm talking about once you've gotten a few projects under your belt and you say 'That's nice, now I want to conquer my entire life'. That's cool, I'd go so far as to say bad-ass, but it's basically the equivalent of saying to the family at Thanksgiving dinner, 'I'm going to climb MT. Everest' and everybody smiles and nods. Seriously, it's that daunting.

Now, I've made things easier, MUCH easier by putting in place a template set that has key ResultsManager projects baked in to address the different areas of your life. Don't have it, get it FREE here. Still, it doesn't mean your not going to go through a cathartic experience if you want to win.

I say sparring with an aircraft carrier because you get better when you play tennis with Agassi, better when you play chess with Kasparov, better when you have a catfight with Paris Hilton. And it would therefore stand to reason you'd get better at war if you sparred with an aircraft carrier, which is what you're doing when you use the Gyronix System in your life due to the sheer size of what it can encompass in your reality.

It's powerful, and you love it, but has ResultsManager fallen by the wayside for you? Has it been months since you've run a Dashboard? Is it, as David Allen (of GTD if you live under a rock) might say, 'taking up psychic RAM'?With ResultsManager, all roads lead to Rome as I said here. And ResultsManager is like an advisor giving you unfiltered reports of barbarian gains in the provinces. Hey, I'd be afraid to look at it to if I hadn't been using it. After all, I'm hinting at danger when I use the Roman Empire analogy... it fell. Will you?

Gyronix training-modules-graphicAs if Christmas hadn't already come in July with the ability to buy software through VisualStrategist.com, now it's double-your-fun with the ability to buy Gyronix Training through VisualStrategist.com as well. After all, wouldn't some guidance in sparring with that behemoth carrier be nice? So, if you've been relaxing this summer and want to get serious with ResultsManager, a tool that can be used for David Allen's GTD methodology, Gyronix's structured training is a great way to get on the road to maximum productivity.

(Wasn't that a nice way of saying if you've been lazy, this will make you feel better?)

Recent Tour of OpenMind 2 Business with Brandon Conrad

Recently, I had the opportunity to take a tour of OpenMind 2 Business with Brandon Conrad of Matchware. First, I'll compliment Brandon on being one of the more natural communicators I've encountered in recent days. Mind Mapping isn't the easiest technique / philosophy / lifestyle / solution to explain, and he did an excellent job of putting it into brilliant, short-bursts that would bring those on the fence into the camp.

And while Brandon did a brilliant presentation, I must say that OpenMind is a pretty standard mapping application... until you see the built-in Gantt chart. No doubt, I was greatly impressed by the seamless project management it permits... and I'm guessing a lot of project managers out there will be as well.

Take a look at some screenshots from the OpenMind website:

This is just too cool for school. It's a map that details web trends, and I found myself particularly partial to the online, interactive version:
